As a member of Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys, he became the first drummer to play in front of the curtain on the Grand Ole Opry, which previously frowned upon percussion. Mountjoy's recording credits include "Roly-Poly," "Stars And Stripes On Iwo Jima" and "Stay A Little Longer"
